The story of “The Moon Project” runs concurrently to that of its predecessors, and sees the Lunar Corporation busy at work on the Moon, developing their mysterious “Project SunLight”, which is of much alarm to the UCS who decide to send their forces to the Silver Globe. War breaks out and the conflict takes place in an entirely new environment, marking it the first time the series takes the action beyond Earth.
Compared to “Escape from the Blue Planet”, the game offers new units, structures, video clips, soundtrack and a Multi-Player game via the “EarthNet” servers. The level editor was enhanced too, and allows for modifying of the parameters and the behavior of in-game objects. Using the editor the fan community created, among others, the highly popular modification “Earth 2150: The Lost Souls.”
